Biography –
Born July 29, 1917 to John A Hall and Ada Hill in the outskirts of Perry, Florida, Lorena was the oldest child of 4. John and Ada married March 21, 1914 and would also give birth to two other daughters, Janie and Josie. Her father John died at the age of 40 in 1927. Her mother Ada, remarried to James Edward Burch who was to become the father of her brother Grady and they would remain married until their deaths.
Growing up very poor during the Great Depression hard work was just a way of life and would linger with her throughout her entire life. In 1940 she would marry William Singleton Woodall in the town of Salem, Florida which is just about 20 miles south of Perry. Giving birth to their first child, Ada Blanche in 1941, then to John Colvin in 1943 and eventually her youngest child William in 1946. All of her childbirths were conducted at home in a small and very rural cabin.

Living the majority of her adult life in Salem, she was a cook at the Country Kitchen Restaurant but would later move to Perry not long after her husband William passed away in 1967. After moving to Perry she would gain employment as a cook at the old Walkers Restaurant and Truck Stop until her retirement.
